Moment - horizontal version
Is a moment the smallest sense of time that our bodies can perceive? Is a moment discrete? How can one moment and the next moment be connected? Is it possible to consider the moment as continuous or to consider the superposition? What kind of structure and dimension does our consciousness bring up the momentary sensation? This sculpture was made considering such things.
Originally, this work was created in collaboration with Akira Wakita, Hakuten and Tokyo Midtown for the design event "Tokyo Midtown DESIGN TOUCH" held in Tokyo Midtown Roppongi in 2019. The design team measured the wind at a certain moment, imported it to a computer, and output it as a sculpture. The aim was to materialize the intangible concept of a moment as a tangible object in front of the eyes, so that the viewer could face the meaning of that time. This work is reconstructed as a surrealistic installation.
